Jonas Rosiers - Alfresco consultant

Almost six years ago, I graduated from Lessius with a bachelor's degree in Informatics. I got in touch with Formica through a friend from school. I’d already done some job interviews, but this was the first time I immediately felt at ease. That’s one of the reasons why I decided to join Formica as a Content Services Consultant. What I like about being a consultant is that it’s a versatile job where you get to work on a variety of projects for different clients. Each project has a different approach and is an opportunity to do and learn new things.

Alfresco and Angular

My first work experience at Formica was at ING, where I got to work with Documentum. It was a great project to kick off my career as a developer. I had a great team and really got to know Documentum. After a while, I made the tough decision to leave this project because I wanted to keep challenging myself technically. I go the opportunity to start working with Alfresco and Angular, two technologies I already explored in my free time. Formica gave me the opportunity to pursue my interests and really deepen my knowledge about these technologies at work. At the moment I’m working on a project at the European Council where I get to apply that new knowledge and put the technologies into practice.

Flexibility at Formica

Freedom is very important at Formica. Not only do we get opportunities to explore new technologies, but we also have flexible hours. It enables me to take music lessons and play guitar in a band after work.

But what I think is more important, is that this flexibility goes beyond working conditions. For example, I started working on a project that sounded really cool, but it wasn’t what I expected. After an open conversation, we started looking for a new project and that’s when I got the chance to start working with Alfresco and Angular and I’m loving it! At Formica, it’s not about what you know, but more about having the right attitude, motivation and eagerness to learn new technologies.
